In January 2015, David saw an international orphan choir perform at a nursing home in Houston, Texas. They invited him to go to Peru when the Peruvian children returned home that May. On that trip, David met dozens of families, visiting their homes and parishes in eleven remote villages - high in the mountains of southern Peru - in the Colca Valley.

David made two trips to the Colca Valley with other non-profits working there before he assembled his own team.

July to September 2016:   The Urban Angels team completed its first independent mission.

You may read more about those projects by clicking ‘Peru Projects’ above.

2017 School Year:   Urban Angels ran an after-school club for the secondary students in Yanque, Peru.

Equipo de Líderes teaches young adults community leadership, problem solving and emotional regulation

while offering a safe environment that nurtures their aspirations.

For photos displaying the wonderful success of that program in Peru, please visit the Yanque 2017 page.

During the outbreak of the COVID-19 in 2020:   Urban Angels assisted families in remote areas

on the highland plain of central Mexico. Please see our work there by clicking ‘MX Projects’ above.

Post Covid we have been assisting rural communities and individuals without sufficient means

with medicine, medical services, and medical supplies.

Who We Are

Urban Angels is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation established in 2015. We support the education of children in Mexico and Peru. When we enter poor remote communities we first address the basic needs of food, clothing and health care. Then through an after-school program we teach English language, community leadership, and emotional development to secondary students.

Every dime you donate goes directly to programs in country.

David's personal contribution covers all fundraising and administrative costs.

A Brief History

Current Work

Please consider supporting our efforts in 2025. A monthly commitment would allow us to assist more families.

The English class in the rural community of Alonso Yanez is going quite well. We have 11 committed students in the second year of the class. We are a team of 3, teaching, preparing materials, and building a curriculum suited to the specific needs of these adolescents. We also assist the community by making improvements to the public building where the class is held.

We continue our assistance to children who cannot afford their medications, medical treatment, necessary lab tests, nor normal doctor/dental appointments. Allow me to provide a few details on some of the families you are helping.

Pablo – 9 years old with Muscular Dystrophy. We are close to Pablo’s parents Edgar and Emilia, who are willing to do everything possible for Pablo and their two other children. Urban Angels pays for the necessary lab work, medications and regular visits to a neurologist and cardiologist. We supplement the costs of bi-weekly physical therapy which requires long drives from their remote pueblo to a CRIMSA facility. His needs will increase as this terrible disease progresses.

Joselyn – Age 17, born with Structural Epilepsy, Microcephaly, Anencephaly, Alobar Holoprosencephaly, Spastic Cerebral Palsy, and Severe Intellectual Disability. She cannot communicate and her life is confined to a wheelchair and the bed. We personally drive Joselyn and her mother Eliva to regular appointments with the state provided nutritionist, neurologist and general practitioner. These trips give us time to offer Elvia emotional support as she navigates her daughter’s deteriorating condition. Soon Joselyn will not be able to receive her nutrition orally as she may asphyxiate. We have brought Joselyn to our preferred private neurologist to ensure the state provided care is sufficient and that her medications for epilepsy are appropriate. Your donations also cover assistance with diapers and food. Meals shared in their home allow us to chat with Elvia’s other three daughters about their education and goals.

Jesus – Age 4, also suffers from epilepsy. We provide attention to his condition that the family would otherwise not be able to afford.

Mateo – 5 years old suffering from multiple complications, namely malformation of his joints which causes him difficulty walking. He may need surgery but for now we provide regular visits to a radiologist to monitor his condition. Melisa works closely with his mother Marta to encourage the daily physical therapy he needs.

Alexander – 7 years old. Like his brother Mateo, he has issues walking, but not due to bone disease. For both brothers we provide visits to an orthopedist and physical therapist for proper shoes and exercises. We help them with general health care and dentistry.

Tonito – Age 11, We started by simply covering the cost of his school lunches when it came to our attention that he was arriving at school hungry and went without lunch as well. After more time spent with his family and school, we have come to realize that he also suffers from learning disabilities. We are now helping the family address that with specialists.

I would love to go on, but I will leave you with those examples of the work we are doing in the communities around San Miguel de Allende. Your support is greatly appreciated and encouraging to me personally.
